Hours after the Opposition bloc named itself I.N.D.I.A — standing for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance — Assam CM and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma appeared to suggest that the Opposition was pandering to colonial legacies, tweeting, 'BJP for Bharat'.
Soon after the conclave of the top leaders of 26 non-BJP parties in Bengaluru, the Trinamool Congress hailed the coalition named ‘INDIA’ formed for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and asserted that the days of the NDA are numbered. Reacting to the formation of the opposition alliance, BJP national vice-president Dilip Ghosh wondered if the Congress and CPI(M) support the TMC’s “corruption and violence”, and said that there is "no vacancy for the PM's post". 26 opposition parties' joint resolution pitches for conducting caste census

Kharge said that the Mumbai meet will discuss on issues related to who will lead the alliance and seat-sharing.
"The next opposition meeting will be held in Mumbai, the date will be announced soon. An 11-member coordination committee will be set up. Names of committee members will be announced in Mumbai,"Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
"We all know none ever could win against India. So I don't have to say who will win in this battle," said Rahul.
Rahul Gandhi said that this fight is between NDA and 'INDIA'.
Uddhav Thackeray said that the people of the country shoud have trust on the opposition alliance. "Like the film 'Main Hoon Naa', I am now telling people, have trust on us - 'Hum Hain Naa'."
Delhi CM Kejriwal said that Modi has destroyed all the sectors of the nation.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said that the ruling government's only work is "buying and selling" state governments. "I dare Modi to challenge our new alliance INDIA."
"Modi is afraid of the Opposition unity. That is why he has been reaching out to all the allies that he had abandoned before,"Kharge said.
Kharge said that the next Opposition meet will be held in Mumbai.
"All the leaders have agreed to have a name for the alliance. Earlier, we worked with UPA, now a new name has been given - Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance. We all are happy with this new name," said Congress chief Kharge.
Opposition coalition to be called 'INDIA'
The Opposition alliance has beennamed as 'INDIA' (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance).The decision was taken at a meeting of 26 parties in Bengaluru.The meeting was attended by top leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, Nitish Kumar, among others. Earlier, some sections had reservations about giving a name to the alliance.
