    'NDA's vote share in 2024 elections will be over 50%'

    2023-07-19 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 18 exuded confidence in swift victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections and said that the NDA alliance will hold more than 50 percent vote share in 2024.  "In 2014, the vote share of the NDA was just 38 per cent, the vote share will go over 50 per cent and in the third term, the Indian economy will be third in the world," said the Prime Minister.  The NDA leaders, who arrived for the meeting, also posed for a group photograph before going into a huddle.  The meeting is part of the BJP's ongoing efforts to shore up the NDA and devise a joint strategy against the fledgling grand Opposition alliance, 'I.N.D.I.A', with an eye on next year's Lok Sabha elections

    Shimla: 1 killed after LPG cylinder explodes in a hotel

    2023-07-19 One person was killed and nine others injured after a cylinder blast at a restaurant in the Middle Bazaar area of Shimla City on July 18.  Initially, ten people were injured and were rushed to the hospital at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla.  However, one of them succumbed to his injuries. “Out of the 10 injured people, one person has lost his life during the treatment. An investigation is underway. I will not be able to share much detail on it,” said SP Shimla, Sanjay Kumar Gandhi.

    Cong leaders condole demise of former Kerala CM Chandy

    2023-07-18 Former Kerala Chief Minister and Congress leader Oommen Chandy passed away on July 18 in Bengaluru. Several Congress leaders and leaders from different political spectrums expressed grief over his demise.   Congress MLA and former Kerala LoP Ramesh Chennithala condoled his demise and said he was the people’s leader and that his association with people of Kerala will be remembered.  Oommen Chandy, aged 79, was undergoing treatment for cancer in Bengaluru. Former Kerala CM represented Puthupally constituency in Kottayam for more than 50 years. He first represented Puthupally in 1970 and later became a Minister in former CM K Karunakaran’s Ministry in 1977.

    25-year-old stabbed to death in Delhi’s Jafrabad area

    2023-07-18 A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in southeast Delhi’s Jafrabad area on July 18 allegedly by the girl’s father and brothers with whom he was in a relationship. According to Delhi Police at about 5:15 pm on July 17, information was received that a young man had been stabbed to death in Near Kalyan Cinema, Chauhan Banger, Jafrabad.  The deceased was identified as Salman age 25 years Resident of Brahmpuri, Jafrabad.  Salman was stabbed in the neck and chest and died on the spot. A preliminary enquiry has revealed that Salman was friends with a girl for the past 2 years. The girl’s family was against the relationship.

    Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy passes away

    2023-07-18 Former Kerala CM, senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy passed away on July 18. Oommen Chandy, aged 79, had been undergoing treatment for cancer in Bengaluru.  Former Kerala CM represented Puthupally constituency in Kottayam for more than 50 years. He first represented Puthupally in 1970 and later became a minister in former CM K Karunakaran ministry in 1977.  Oommen Chandy became Kerala Chief Minister for two terms and handled the finance portfolio of the state. He used to address the grievances of the needy through his mass contact programme ‘Janasamparka Paripadi’.

    2023-07-17 A fire broke out at a plastic factory named Uni Star near village Jandiali in Ludhiana.  6-7 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.  No casualties were reported. A fire brigade official named Rajinder spoke to ANI and said, “6-7 fire brigade vehicles are present at the spot. Efforts are on to control the fire.”
